Maureen and Kevin had planned for a wedding of 175 guests at Blue Hill at Stone Barns for May of 2020. We did a site visit together in March, which was one of the last few client meetings I had before New York started to shut down. When it was clear that May was not going to happen, we shifted the wedding to October of 2020. After a few more months, Maureen and Kevin debated whether October could even happen and if they should move the wedding to 2021. Given the uncertainty of 2021, and the fact that the infection rate in the summer of 2020 was low and businesses were opening up, they decided to go ahead with a micro wedding that summer. Ultimately they wanted to get married and felt that they were at a point where it was safe to do so with a small gathering of 40. They both have a lot of siblings, so it was a family affair with lots of kids! How cute is this flower girl?
Maureen and Kevin found a new location at Valley Rock Inn with beautiful grounds for taking photos after the church ceremony. We had to find a new photographer, videographer, hair stylist, makeup artist and wedding cake designer for the new date with 3 weeks to plan. I am so grateful to all these vendors who came on board at the last minute and existing vendors who were flexible with the changes involved, and helped to make Maureen and Kevin’s celebration such a beautiful and fun event!
Guest enjoyed a cocktail reception in the lodge before moving on to a seated dinner at the L shaped terrace. We used long wooden tables with cross back chairs. Poppies and Posies created low lush floral arrangements in matte white ceramic vases in varying sizes along the table. These were interspersed with lanterns to cast a romantic glow that evening. Blaire Band provided the music and kept the party going! Nine Cakes provided the wedding cake with delicate deckled buttercream edges and sugar flowers inspired by the floral arrangements. For wedding favors, they had individually packaged Levain Cookies for guests to take home.
