Oheka Castle Wedding: Wani and Oscar

I met Wani and Oscar in February 2019.  Two reschedules (due to covid) and 3.5 years later, they were married at Oheka Castle on a sunny day in 2022!  1440 designed their invitation suite.  It had a dreamy envelope liner of the handpainted venue and gardens in the sage green envelope of handmade paper.  With modern elegant script on textured handmade paper, a silk ribbon and deep red wax seal featuring the double happiness sign.  Their custom stamp was an illustration of their college.  Done before they stopped making custom stamps (so sad we can’t make them anymore!)

Wani wore three stunning gowns.  Her white ceremony gown by Mira Zwillinger, red and pink reception gown by Monique Lhuillier and an adorable short dancing dress by Oscar de la Renta.  Her bouquet had a romantic, lush, garden feel in a palette of burgundy, pink and blush.

As guests entered Oheka Castle they were greeted with a floral installation at the base of the grand staircase leading up to the event space.

They got married in the formal gardens in front of an arbor incorporating florals and the most beautiful smoke bush.  Wani and Oscar had written their vows in both English and Chinese.  During their first look Wani read and translated her Chinese vows to Oscar so he would know what they mean when she said them during the ceremony.  It was a very personal and meaningful ceremony officiated by Rev Annie Lawrence, with music by Luminous Sounds.

Cocktails took place in the dining room, lounge and garden patio.  For their signature cocktails they chose a lychee peach sangria and a spiced pear mule.  I loved the illustrated cocktail sign that 1440 designed.

Guests were invited into the Grand Ballroom for dinner and dancing. Some of the wedding party were not able to attend the indoors dinner due to covid but we managed to zoom them into the dinner so they could deliver their speeches.  It was unconventional, but we thought it was a great way to incorporate those important people and celebrate safely.  AP Bio created a mix of tall and low arrangements on the round guest tables and built a romantic garden feel for the sweetheart table.  1440 designed the handmade paper menus with a double happiness wax seal.  Joe Lopez from Beat Train kept the guests dancing all night!

It was a long time coming, but it turned out to be such a special celebration for Wani and Oscar.  Thank you to Kylee Yee Photography and McKenzie Miller Films for capturing it so beautifully!
