Central Park Boathouse Wedding

Pam and Paul were married on crisp fall day in New York.  Coming into the planning process, she was not sure exactly how she wanted it to look, but she did know she wanted it to be timeless and elegant.  This was a classic wedding with details that will never go out of style.  Pam's gorgeous ball gown from Dennis Basso with the lace sleeves and sweet belt cinching her waist was breathtaking.  She got ready at the Plaza Hotel which gave Sue Kessler from Christian Oth Studio beautiful portrait opportunities both in the hotel and in Central Park.

For their save the dates, they had an artist hand draw a black and white map of Manhattan with details of their wedding locations and a few landmarks.  The traditional invitation was hand calligraphed and engraved in midnight blue with gilded beveled edges.  The envelope liner and belly band cut from gilded silk screen Japanese paper added a fun pop of colour and personality to the suite.  Pam loved the Japanese paper so much, it was also brought through to the wedding day items in the programme liner, table number borders and menu belly bands.

As guests entered the Central Park Boathouse, we had a jazz quartet from Elan Artists playing some of Pam and Paul's favourite jazz standards.  One of the bridesmaids even joined in and sang "At Last".  During the dinner reception, the Blaire Reinhard Band played such a great set that we had to invite guests to be seated for their courses multiple times as they didn't want to leave the dance floor!  Pam sang in college.  During dinner with some college friends she sang a cappella "To Make You Feel My Love" to her husband.   It was such a tender moment.  For their favours, we did cute little pies in a jar from Tiny Pies in Texas, which is where Paul is from.  These were displayed at each place setting, with alternating flavours of sweet Texas pecan pie and apple pie.  Those together with a floral and lace detailed cake from Nine Cakes were the perfect ending to a sweet celebration.

The Carltun Wedding

Amy and Mike were married outside on a beautiful summer day with a backdrop of majestic trees.  Both of them were very busy with their work schedules, so I had a great time collaborating with Amy's father and stepmother, who wanted to create a celebration that was elegant and timeless.  I feel lucky to work with parents who are so kind and gracious, and have such impeccable taste.  Amy wanted lots of pink in her wedding, so we incorporated this in her elegant calla lilly bouquet and blushing pink makora orchids in the centerpieces.  See all the pretty from Jen Huang Photography below.

New York Palace Wedding

This wedding was really special in that it came together so beautifully despite us having to move locations 6 days prior to the wedding due to Sandy.  The couple met on a plane, so they incorporated mini plane silhouettes on their menus, table numbers and on their wedding cake by Ron Ben-Israel.  The flowers by Blossom and Branch in soft and romantic ivory, green and silver with a touch of blush, had such texture and dimension.  Also those shoes by Kate Spade?  Just fabulous!  Thank you to Jen Huang for sharing these images with us.new york palace wedding ang weddings and events jen huang photography-1

Intimate Per Se Wedding

Upcoming this year we have two weddings at The Foundry and two weddings at The Bowery Hotel.  Last year we planned two weddings at Per Se.  Things sometimes happen in doubles for us and with amazing venues like these, that is quite alright!  I am so pleased to be able to share these gorgeous images of the Per Se wedding from Karen Wise Photography here on the blog. This couple loved eating great food and wanted a really intimate dinner celebration for the wedding.  After looking at a number of delicious fine dining restaurants in Manhattan, they chose Thomas Keller's Per Se at the Time Warner Center.  They had their ceremony at City Hall on Friday and their dinner reception the day after.  With quite a few guests travelling in from out of town, we planned a walking tour of Greenwich Village through Big Onion.  Who would have guessed that a one day snow and thunderstorm would pass through Manhattan in October!  Despite the crazy weather, their guests were such troopers and still went on the walking tour (slightly condensed version).

The Bride wore a chic short black dress from Jason Wu with stunning platform leather pumps from Gucci.  Jessie from Rountree Flowers created a  bridal bouquet of white ranunculus, seeded eucalyptus and acorns, surrounded by sleek black feathers, and wrapped with a black satin ribbon with pearl pins.

The escort table was quite narrow, so instead of doing a large towering arrangement, a romantic loose garland of flowers and leaves was wound around the hand calligraphed escort cards.

The invitations had included an autumnal leaf motif, so for the wooden table signs, the Bride's brother continued the theme with laser cut leaves.  I absolutely loved the lush and opulent centerpieces that Rountree Flowers created.  The loose arrangement included kumquats, flowering jasmine vine, ranunuculus, scabiosa pods, garden roses, seeded eucalyptus and tulips.  Kumquats in a floral arrangement!?  Genius. Such beautiful texture and colours.  A natural acorn subtly dusted with fine brown glitter was placed at each napkin.  With a warm glow from the mercury votives, the tables had such a delicate sophistication about them.

The ombre wedding cake  was chocolate devil’s food cake with hazelnut nougatine and coffee cremeaux. The cake topper was three simple sugar ranunculus. Congratulations again to the happy couple!  I loved working with you on this special wedding.
