Copper and Navy Fall Wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns

Sara and Chris were looking for a bucolic venue not too far from the city, and they found that at Blue Hill at Stone Barns.  They were able to host a wedding that felt elegant, seasonal, wild and autumnal.  Sara was 6 months pregnant and wore an elegant silk gown with flower appliques from Elisabeth Fillmore.  Chris wore a bespoke navy blue Martin Greenfield tuxedo.  I loved the flower girl dresses from Isabel Garreton with the navy details.  They looked so cute with their crowns incorporating porcelain berries!

For the florals, Sara wanted something that was wild and unfussy.  Saipua was the perfect choice.  Creating arrangements like a beautiful Dutch still-life.  The colour palette for the ceremony was lighter, incorporating blush and warm peach tones.  Going into cocktails and dinner, the colours evolved into deeper and more saturated tones, purple, gold and deep chocolate.  Permissions (a staple of Sara's childhood and something that signified the coming of winter) were incorporated into the arrangements.  Katie Fischer Design created an invitation suite with modern and marble elements, complete with copper calligraphy by Mary Ellen on dark navy envelopes.

Chris is a production designer and created a neon sign for the cocktail hour.  Sara is a writer/director, and edited together a compilation of scenes from their favourite films, which was projected over the bar and played like a silent film.  Colourful streamer panels from Color Condition and luxe lounge pieces from Patina made for a fun cocktail hour atmosphere!

The seasonal food from Blue Hill at Stone Barns was incredible.  We started with a beet salad with fresh yoghurt and pine nut butter, then had a second course of lobster and brussels sprouts, and finished with lamb loin, butternut squash and a risotto of grains.  Each course with a thoughtful wine paring.  During dinner a New Orleans jazz band Roamin' Jasmine played and later we transitioned to a DJ from 74 Events for dancing with lots of soul and old hip hop.  Thank you to Judy Pak for documenting their celebration so beautifully!  One of my all time favourite weddings I was so delighted and honoured to have been a part of.
