Wedding Wire Couples' Choice Awards 2015

A big thank you to all our couples (and their parents) who took time out of their busy schedules to write such kind reviews for us on Wedding Wire.  You helped us to win the Wedding Wire Couples' Choice Award for the third year running!  This recognizes the top five percent of local wedding professionals from the WeddingWire Network who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism.  Thank you so much!

Working Odd Hours

I did a fun interview with cosmopolitan magazine last year about working weird hours as a wedding planner, which was published in their September 2013 issue.  They also interviewed a chef, reporter, ER nurse and broadway performer.  My method of recovering from a big wedding day is drinking huge quantities of water.  I never drink enough water on a wedding day.  Yoga is a huge part of my life as well.  My favourite studio in the city being Yogamaya in Chelsea.  When I can't get to a studio class, there is always Yogaglo, which can be done any time of day.  Perfect for me!

The Year of the Horse

I had a delicious dinner with my family last week to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  We had whole steamed fish with ginger and scallions, simple steamed chicken, pork and water chestnut balls, chinese mushrooms with sea cucumber, and garlic fried snow pea shoots (probably my favourite vegetable).  All home cooked by my generous in laws.  It was a great excuse to eat way too much.  Tuan nian fan is when family gathers on new year's eve to celebrate everything the new year will bring.  This year being the year of the horse.galloping horses chinese painting

The start of year for me always involves a lot calls and meeting with newly engaged couples, ready to get started on planning their weddings.  There is lots of excitement in the air as ideas start sprouting for their wedding celebrations.  It feels so great when you click right off the bat and you know that planning their wedding will be such a fun experience.  I am very grateful for the wonderful people who choose to hire us for their special day.  I say it a lot, but it will always be an honour to be part of someone's celebration as important as this.  I am having a ball right now working with some awesome new 2014 and 2015 clients on booking their venues.

Congratulations to all the newly engaged couples out there!  I hope you find the perfect planner for your wedding.  At the very least, please hire a month of planner if you're not going with full planning.  You will have so much more fun and peace of mind leading up to and on your wedding day.  Be in the moment with all your loved ones, and leave planners like me to sweat the little things.

Wedding Wire Couples' Choice Award 2014

I am so very grateful for all these sweet brides, grooms, and their mothers and fathers who wrote reviews for me on Wedding Wire.  We are up to 26 reviews and counting!  After a wedding there are about a million thank you notes to write to guests (which always seems to take forever), so I really appreciate my clients for taking time to write reviews for me.  The Couples' Choice Award 2014 recognizes the top 5% of wedding professionals across the Wedding Wire network.  I have many kind clients to thank for helping us to win this for the second year running.

Ending 2013

We are gearing up for the last wedding of our 2013 season at one of our absolute favourite venues The Bowery Hotel.  I can't think of a better location for a cozy winter wedding.  I am especially happy that I get to work with some incredible people in the wedding world.  This is going to be a great one! While preparing for this last wedding, I am also busy working on hiring vendors for weddings in 2014 (some really exciting things coming next year), and packing for Asia.  After our last wedding this weekend, I am off to Hong Kong, Malaysia and Bali for a month.  I can't wait to see my family.  My sisters live in London and Hong Kong (with New York, we sound like a fashion line).  Seeing as we are spread around the globe, vacations together are a must.  Looking forward to swapping my puffy jacket and winter boots for sun hats and swimwear in Bali.  I warn you.  My instagram may become flooded with Bali pictures. How I adore that island.  It is pure magic.  Maybe I can plan my 10 year vow renewal there....

Please bear with me during December, as my responses will be slower than usual due to the 12 hour time difference.  Happy Holidays!
