Colourful Spring Celebration at Wave Hill

It is always extra special when I get to plan a wedding at Wave Hill, as I was married there myself. Even more so when I get to plan it with such a sweet couple who really did things their own way. Sarah and Arjun walked down the aisle together to “The Way You Look Tonight” and they had Sarah’s sister and Arjun’s brother officiate the ceremony overlooking the Hudson River.

Sarah wanted colour in this wedding and the beautiful florals of spring were more than happy to oblige! Denise Fasanello did such an incredible job creating a lush garden atmosphere with peonies, ranunculus, tulips, hellebores and cherry blossom that suited the venue perfectly. Denise’s initial design board served as the inspiration for the wedding invitation suite by Printerette Press. Sarah and Arjun also sent over photographs of themselves and their 3 “fur baby” pets that were all incorporated into the hand illustrated and letterpressed suite.

The escort cards were metallic gold paper butterfly cards with modern hand calligraphy by Papersoul. All displayed on a grand wooden table with an enchanting display of florals in ceramic pots, vases and a cloche. The watercolour designs continued through to the day of pieces and flowers and paperie complimented each other so elegantly on the dining tables. My favourite part had to be the cake from Nine Cakes which had a combination of painted watercolour florals inspired by the invitation suite and exquisite sugar flowers too. Inside was alternating layers of almond and chocolate cake with two layers of vanilla buttercream, and the center filling with dark chocolate ganache, all layers of filling with fresh raspberries. I try not to use the word perfect too much, but this cake was PERFECT in my mind. Thank you to Mademoiselle Fiona for all of these gorgeous images.

Cristina & Jason at The Foundry

Martha Stewart Weddings described Cristina and Jason's celebration as simply chic and I could not agree more.  There is beauty in simplicity and this elegant day exuded it with such grace.

I love the flowers in May.  Poppies and Posies created lush romantic garden arrangements, and a bouquet so dreamy that the bride never wanted to put it down.  It was important to the couple to make it feel intimate and inclusive of their families.  Jason's dad officiated the ceremony, grandma embroidered the cloth covering the chuppah and they displayed old family photos on a gold bookshelf from Patina Rentals.  Cristina is the talented owner of Riles and Co. and she hand poured 132 candles for wedding favours.  I had a really hard time editing down these pretty images from Mademoiselle Fiona!  I highly recommend that you also check out their sweet stop motion film.

Morningside Castle Wedding

This fall wedding at Morningside Castle was made extra special with all the personal details that Emilee created.  Emilee and Jay met at the Wall Street Journal, so they made newspaper fabric napkins and a newspaper wedding programme.  Their escort cards came with chocolate subway tokens and each table was named a meaningful subway stop with an explanation on the table cards.  Emilee found a vintage apartment mailbox for guests to post their cards in.  Everything that crisp fall day was captured so beautifully by the incomparable Fiona Conrad.
