Winter Bowery Hotel Wedding

There is something so magical about a winter wedding.  Melanie and Greg chose the perfect venue at the Bowery Hotel with the warm brick walls, cozy fireplace and old world charm.  The bride looked absolutely gorgeous in Stella McCartney, with lace sleeves and a fringe tea length skirt, which showed off her stunning Valentino heels.

I loved the smell at the ceremony created by the dramatic garland that Rountree Flowers draped over the burning fireplace.  It was made up of fresh lemon leaf, magnolia, juniper and pine.  Divine!  The adorable flower girl crowns were so precious too.

For dinner the long tables tables were decorated with an organic rambling carpet of white pillar candles in assorted sizes, which gave the room such an incredible glow.  These were augmented by winter white blooms like white ranunculus, white spray roses, white anemones, dark privet berries and touches of velvety dusty miller.  Late night when the pillars were all burning down and oozing candle wax  was very romantic!  All beautifully captured by the talented Karen Hill.

Love in 2012

I often blog about wedding details, but at the end of the day, a wedding is about two people in love who are making a very special promise to each other.  Here are just a few of the amazing couples that we worked with in 2012.

What a Year

As 2012 draws to to a close, I have been reflecting on what a great year it has been. I have had the pleasure of working with some wonderful couples on their wedding days. I still find it an incredible honour to be chosen to be part of someone's special day.  It is such a priceless moment when I see everything coming together on the wedding day and share in the intimate moments of love between a couple and their family and friends.  Thank you to all my awesome couples in 2012!A big thank you goes out to my wedding industry family.  I have had so much fun collaborating with incredibly talented wedding professionals this year, both cementing long standing relationships and developing new ones.  Our weddings are such a success because of the hard work, dedication and creativity that everyone brings to the table.  Thank you to Style Me Pretty, New York Magazine and Munaluchi Bride for the love they have shown us this year.  Thank you also to my wonderful assistants, Laureen and Ashley.  Much as I want to be in three places at the same time on wedding days, I can't, so thank you for your hard work on our weddings this year.

I am super excited about the couples we are working with and the weddings we are planning in 2013!  We will be working with some fabulous wedding professionals at a wide range of venues.  Some old favourites and some interesting new ones.

It will be a fun day in the kitchen for me today.  We are having family over for dinner tonight, so I will start the day baking an apple pie for dessert.  For dinner we are having duck breast in a red wine sauce, brussel sprouts and bacon, sweet potatoes, braised red cabbage, and cheddar and chive biscuits.  Happy Holidays to my clients past and present, and to my wedding family!

Some pictures of us working this year.

The Foundry Wedding

This wedding makes me weak at the knees.  It was such a perfect balance of classic elegance and modern elements that I just adore.  With a Bride who is an architect and a Groom who works in publishing with a graphic design background, I knew their wedding would have incredible style.  Jiwon wore Amsale's Clara gown made from luxurious structured silk mikado, with a lace bolero from IHeartBride.  Later during the reception, she changed into a light and airy dress from Alice & Olivia. Thanks to Karen Hill Photography for sharing these images with us.

Jin designed the contemporary letterpress invitations and all the wedding day paperie. The clean lines and bold font complementing the industrial character of The Foundry perfectly.

The fact that The Foundry allows dogs onsite was a huge plus for Jiwon and Jin. They wanted Monkey to be part of their celebration, and looking at that face, you can definitely see why!

The flowers from Saipua were absolutely dreamy.  As you will see, I had real trouble editing these photographs.  Between Saipua's creations and Karen Hill's Photography, it was a really hard to choose my favourites from this wedding.

The two adorable flower girls wearing dresses from Zara Kids.

Monkey was part of the processional and the recessional, which everyone loved!  His black bow tie was actually a human bow tie instead of a dog bow tie.  The former was more affordable.  Go figure.

Jiwon's twin brothers were some of the most helpful siblings I have ever met at a wedding.  They helped me track down missing family members for portraits, were perfect ushers, and gave a hilarious speech during dinner.  Thanks guys!

Saipua used a soft summer palette of whites, ivories and greens, with full and round flowers for a romantic feel.  The different containers they used along the tables made it so interesting, with each guest getting a different experience.  The tables were covered with mercury glass taper candle sticks and pillar candles.  The brick ledges were covered with a deluge of glass votives.  It took a while to stuff all those candle sticks, but the warmth and romance they created made it all worth it!

For their wedding favours, we had little glass jars of tasty Papabubble candy, with personalized labels.

Nine Cakes created a dessert table of five white cakes with different buttercream textures, macarons, tartlets and truffles.  Such a pretty display and everything was delicious!

Congratulations to Jiwon and Jin.  Thank you for letting me be part of your special day!
