I spent two delightful weeks in Tuscany in August.  August is usually a good time to sneak away from New York and spending it in Italy could not have been better.  For the first week I was with family at a villa in Val d'Orcia and for the second week with friends at a villa on the outskirts of San Gimignano.  Filled with delicious food (I can happily eat pasta every day for 2 weeks) and excellent company, I only wish it could have been longer.  The light in Tuscany is so incredible.  Must be a photographer's dream to shoot a wedding there.  I will be back very soon Toscana.  Very soon.

It has been quiet on the blog as I was traveling for a month in Asia through Hong Kong, Malaysia and Bali.  It was so good to gather and spend time with my family, who are spread around the globe.  A week at Villa Maridadi in Bali was the ideal place to unwind and relax after a busy year.  It had incredible ocean views, with the sea temple Pura Gede Luhur Batungaus steps away.  I have been to Bali three times before, but always on scuba diving trips.  This time round with an 11 month old baby in tow, it was more about relaxing and playing.  Three swims in the pool per day instead of the usual three dives a day.  I managed to fit in some yoga, a trip to Tanah Lot for a Kecak performance, drinks at Ku De Ta and dinner at La Lucciola.  There were strolls through the padi fields, delicious balinese food and plenty of ice cream.  Perfect. We also had dinner at La Finca, an amazing Spanish restaurant owned by a friend of ours, with lots of influence from his time in Ibiza.  Such a warm and inviting place, with really excellent food.  All the tapas were delicious and the steak you cook at the table on a blistering hot stone was a really fun touch.  I highly recommend it.

I love the island of Bali so much!  There is something just magical about it.  I could keep going back again and again.

Wedding Anniversary at Wave Hill

It has admittedly been months since our wedding anniversary, but my husband and I have just been so busy with work that we never had a chance to go back to our wedding venue Wave Hill until this past weekend.  It was a cloudy Labour Day, but Wave Hill was  looking better than ever.  Wave Hill House is still under renovation, but we had a breakfast picnic of Murray's Bagels and enjoyed walking around the gardens.  I cannot wait to see the restorations when the house reopens in 2013.  It is a really special place to get married. The pergola overlooking the Hudson River where we said our vows was looking lush and colourful!

The aquatic garden was featuring beautiful lilies and I found a little green frog hiding in the mosaic plant.

Martha's Vineyard

It was quiet on the blog last week as I was taking a week away in Martha's Vineyard. This has almost become an annual trip for my husband and I.  Instead of staying at a bed and breakfast, as we usually do, we rented a house for a week near Edgartown. Many hours were spent lounging on the deck and barbecuing dinner.  No trip to Martha's Vineyard is complete without a trip to Larsen's Fish Market to have some sweet lobsters and raw clams.  Their lobsters are the best!  We went fishing and caught three blue fish and one black bass.  They made for such delicious fish tacos after grilling on the bbq.  Not to waste anything, we used the heads to make a hearty fish soup.  This time, we finally made it to the beach! So sad to leave Martha's Vineyard.  See you again next year.

Weekend in London

I just got back to New York from a weekend trip to London.  Lots of Union Jack flags were up from the Diamond Jubilee celebration with the characteristic grey clouds I remembered.

Of course I had my obligatory breakfast fry-up, along with a Cornish pasty, chicken and mushroom pie, and fish and chips along the way.

I attended my dear friend's wedding at the Orangery in Holland Park.  Such a fun and intimate celebration.  Congratulations again F+R!

The sun came out on our last day and I spent a glorious morning in Regent's Park with my family.  My two year old nephew requested a boat ride, so we rented two paddle boats for a spin around the lake.  This was topped off with a stroll through the annual Marylebone Summer Fayre.  A short and sweet trip to London.
