The Year of the Horse

I had a delicious dinner with my family last week to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  We had whole steamed fish with ginger and scallions, simple steamed chicken, pork and water chestnut balls, chinese mushrooms with sea cucumber, and garlic fried snow pea shoots (probably my favourite vegetable).  All home cooked by my generous in laws.  It was a great excuse to eat way too much.  Tuan nian fan is when family gathers on new year's eve to celebrate everything the new year will bring.  This year being the year of the horse.galloping horses chinese painting

The start of year for me always involves a lot calls and meeting with newly engaged couples, ready to get started on planning their weddings.  There is lots of excitement in the air as ideas start sprouting for their wedding celebrations.  It feels so great when you click right off the bat and you know that planning their wedding will be such a fun experience.  I am very grateful for the wonderful people who choose to hire us for their special day.  I say it a lot, but it will always be an honour to be part of someone's celebration as important as this.  I am having a ball right now working with some awesome new 2014 and 2015 clients on booking their venues.

Congratulations to all the newly engaged couples out there!  I hope you find the perfect planner for your wedding.  At the very least, please hire a month of planner if you're not going with full planning.  You will have so much more fun and peace of mind leading up to and on your wedding day.  Be in the moment with all your loved ones, and leave planners like me to sweat the little things.
