Romance was abundant at this wedding at the Harvard Club of New York City. When I first met Maggie and Steve, it was just so sweet how they looked at each other and gave each other tender touches. Pull on your heart strings kind of stuff.Honouring the memory of Maggie's Father was one of the first things we had discussed while planning. A blue embroidered patch with her Father's college football number was sewn into her lace Rivini gown. Maggie's Mother, siblings and Steve all carried embroidered handkerchief's with the same number. Her Father's class ring was tied onto her bridal bouquet. After the wedding, she placed her dried bouquet at his grave.
As guests entered the Harvard Club, they were greeted by a stunning escort card arrangement by Blush Designs, with towering branches, calla lilies, roses, orchids and hydrangea arranged in a clean contemporary style. I am of the theory that you can never have too many candles, and the way the mass of pillar candles glowed throughout their ceremony in the Harvard Hall was magical. Instead of a traditional ring pillow, the rings were held in a hollowed out book with a heart indentation and a magnetic closure. The book they used was "Elements of Style", a book that both their Fathers loved and resided on both Maggie and Steve's bookshelves at work.
The Harvard Club is a grand venue with soaring ceilings, lots of dark wood and ornate chandeliers. Maggie wanted floral decor that would compliment the space with a contemporary and elegant feel. Blush Designs created rich red and orange arrangements in wide conical vases that almost made it look like the flowers were floating off the tables. These were surrounded by red floating candles in pedestal vases that brought such a romantic and warm glow to the room. The energetic sounds of the Groove Society had the dance floor packed (and me tapping my foot) the entire night.
Maggie grew up in Pittsburgh where the cookie table at weddings is a must have tradition. We offered the Pittsburgh smiley cookie from Eat'n Park and the New York black and white from Glaser's Bakery. A great snack for guests on the way to the after party. Thank you to Moss & Isaac for sharing these images of their lovely fall new york wedding.
